How long before I receive my images?

Typically within four weeks of our shoot.  I will mail you a DVD-R of your images.

Our family is one of these letters: LGBTQ.  Will you still work with us?

Yes, gladly.

What equipment do you use?

My lovely Canon 5D Mark II and a small host of lenses.

How does your pricing for portrait shoots work exactly?

Typical portrait shoots are 1 hour.  I throw on a grace period half hour to account for late subways, ripped hems, walking or driving to different locations/fussy babies/fussy toddlers/fussy adults.  Any time beyond that is at additional cost.

What should we wear for a family shoot?

Whatever you want!  The days of everyone in matching jeans-and-black-button-down-shirts for family and engagement portraits died in the 90's (phew!) but it IS important to match each other in level of formality.

Most people wear party clothes, or clothes for going out to a nice dinner in colors that harmonize with each other.  (If you're in the NYC area and need a reasonably priced stylist - especially if you happen to be a plus-size lady - my good friend Netta is ace.)

You can get some variety by bringing a different sweater, scarf, tie, jacket or other colorful accessories.

All that said, if you want engagement photos in your holey jeans and rocker tees, you want your family of five in matching Hanukkah sweaters, or if everyone in your extended family has bunny suits that you're just dying to get photos in, that rocks, too.  Especially the bunny suits.

A note about shoes: if you want shots in stilettos, bring sneakers or flip flops along to get from location to location.

What should we bring?

You don't need to bring anything, but if you have props you'd like to be photographed with, feel free!  Balloons, pinwheels, flowers, cupcakes, sprinkled donuts and glass bottles of soda make charming additions to photos.  Additionally some people like to be photographed with favorite books, musical instruments, old cameras, a favorite picnic blanket... whatever reflects YOU.

If you're doing a couple/family session and want some shots with and some without the dog, bring someone along to "dog wrangle".

When should I schedule my maternity shoot?

Between seven and a half and eight months.  You'll look nice and pregnant but still probably feel up to posing.

When should I schedule my newborn baby shoot?

Within the first two weeks of birth, so we can capture that yummy, fleeting brand-new person look.  I will come to your house.  You do NOT have to get dressed for me, and you don't have to clean up for me.  I promise the photos will be worth me seeing you with spitup on your shirt.

I want to do a boudoir shoot but I'm: 200+ pounds/have scars/feel weird posing in underwear.  Is that OK?

Yes!  Let's do it!  I'm sensitive to all women's bodies (I have one!) and will work with you to capture your sexy, flirty, saucy side in it's very best light.  All the shots are treated with the highest confidence, and any you see on this website have been used with explicit permission on a shot-by-shot basis. I will do tasteful couple shoots, too.

I want to do a boudoir shoot but I'm: a guy/used to be male/am somewhere in between/etc. Is that OK?

Yes! I enjoy meeting and working with all sorts of new people.

What do I wear to a boudoir shoot?

Whatever makes you feel sexy!  Take the opportunity to splurge on some fancy new lingerie or throw on a white men's tank top that shows you off just so.  It's really all about what makes you feel fantastic.
