$100 Headshot Special

If you have a blog, use Twitter or Facebook, get hired for speaking engagements, or even if you have a dating profile, you need a good headshot. It should be clear and show both your whole face (no sunglasses!) and your personality.

Having a headshot is the easiest way to be recognizable in person when you're at a conference, give a professional first impression when people visit your blog or research your company, and establish your personal brand across the internet.

This month, I've decided to make it really affordable by running a special: $100 for "blogger headshots". You will get four large images (1000 px wide) to choose from for use online. You'll also have the option to purchase full resolution images (suitable for making prints) for $25 each.

Images will be delivered to you within three days of our session. You have until March 9 to take advantage of this special, so get in touch!

Pickle Petunia Cookie Photoshoot

This photoshoot was so fun! It was a nice change of pace and really cozy to be puttering around my home studio, listening to music, just me and some gorgeous baked goods. It was the perfect winter project.

These are all made by Pickle Petunia, a new start up bakery in Brooklyn. They needed retail photos and called upon me to produce them. I enjoyed picking out the prop items for each. Want to know my secret? Ikea! They have great plates, napkins and placemats for photographing. Not too busy, not too plain.

(I posted each photo individually for your Pinterest-ing pleasure!)

Can you spot the photo that resulted in sugar ALL OVER my studio floor?

Karin + Megan

Here are Megan and Karin, newlyweds from Portland, OR that are honeymooning in New York City. They are the second couple to win a photoshoot with me from A Practical Wedding. My goodness, do I ever love meeting APW folks! They always feel like old friends.

We started on the rooftop of the building they are staying in, which has killer Park views.

Then we headed down into the Park.

I love "on benches" shots. They remind of that Simon and Garfunkel song.

Here's the thing I learned about newlyweds, and this delighted me: they kiss a lot.

In fountains,

balanced behind railings,

and on the subway!

Central Park has wonderful, interesting architecture - something I was happy for since all the trees were bare and gray. I especially like all this golden stone.

I had to include this photo below. There were a lot of "Meg pointing things out" shots - "She gets it from her dad!" said Karin, grinning - and I really liked this about her.

Ladies, it was SO wonderful to meet you. I wish you years and years of happiness.

Lisa+Chris (and Gloucester)

Here are Lisa and Chris, an engaged couple living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and their wonderfully whiskered cat Gloucester.  We did a photoshoot in their apartment a few days after a giant snowstorm.

Both of them wear simple metal engagment rings, but Lisa initially proposed with a funky cat hair ring made from Gloucester's fur spun around a twist tie!

We walked down to their favorite doughnut shop, the legendary Peter Pan Bakery

The store window makes a charming photo, and the doughnuts are amazing (of course I had one!)

Sara's Maternity

It has been amazing - and really cool! - to see my tiny, 4'11 friend grow and grow and grow over these past few months.  ("How do you have NO stretch marks?" I demanded.  "Oil, girl!" she said.  She has a strict moisturizing regimine.)

I was so excited and honored to capture this signifigant and breif stage of life.  We started in her apartment where she jumped on the bed and posed in her brand new recliner, hands on belly.  (The bed jumping led to about 20 minutes of flopped on bed laying!)  Then we took to the streets of Park Slope where Sara made a pun.

The vitamin shot isn't staged, she actually had to take her morning pre-natals mid-shoot.  There should be, I thought, memories of all of it.

I'm determined to rid the world of ultra-cheesey maternity shoots - it helps to have pregnant friends who are hip and cute!

P.S. bonus for me: yummy newborn photos next month!
