Karin + Megan

Here are Megan and Karin, newlyweds from Portland, OR that are honeymooning in New York City. They are the second couple to win a photoshoot with me from A Practical Wedding. My goodness, do I ever love meeting APW folks! They always feel like old friends.

We started on the rooftop of the building they are staying in, which has killer Park views.

Then we headed down into the Park.

I love "on benches" shots. They remind of that Simon and Garfunkel song.

Here's the thing I learned about newlyweds, and this delighted me: they kiss a lot.

In fountains,

balanced behind railings,

and on the subway!

Central Park has wonderful, interesting architecture - something I was happy for since all the trees were bare and gray. I especially like all this golden stone.

I had to include this photo below. There were a lot of "Meg pointing things out" shots - "She gets it from her dad!" said Karin, grinning - and I really liked this about her.

Ladies, it was SO wonderful to meet you. I wish you years and years of happiness.

Jessica+Matt

This is Jessica and Matt. They came to New York as part of a whirlwind trip to celebrate her 30th birthday, and one of the highlights (!) was having photos taken by me!  We headed to Central Park where we eeked enjoyment out of the last little bits of fall weather and color before everything goes cold and gray.

 Jessica was flying high!

Laura+Russell

This is Laura and Russell, winners of one of my two photoshoot giveaways on A Practical Wedding.  How much do we love Laura's pink hair?!  They hopped on a bus in DC and came up to New York where we did their engagment session in Dumbo.  They used these photos to announce their engagment!  They were SO much fun to work with.

Brittany+John

Brittany and John are getting married next year, and I was so excited they asked me to take their engagement photos.

They wrote me saying they wanted iconic New York City shots, especially in Chelsea, and some with movement in the background.  I was all over that!

Here they are on the Highline with John's seminary in the background.

We borrowed someone's front stoop for this shoot!  John mentioned that, next to Brittany's sparkly Tom's, his shoes were boring.  "I like the story that tells about you two!" I said, and they laughed.

"This one," I said, is for your grandma to frame.

Our iconic New York City shoots included the Highline, Hudson River Park with the Empire State Building in the background, walking past a charming public school, some funky graffiti, and, of course, the subway.

We also went to Billy's and I got some cute shots of them sharing a cupcake.

But not before I stuck Brittany's engagment ring in it!  "It's ok," she said.  "I can just lick the frosting off."

These are my kind of people.
